Flower Power
Emotional Healing with Bach Flower Remedies
I recommend Bach Flower Remedies to all of my clients, family and friends, as well as my dogs! Why? I have had some wonderful, consistent and sometimes surprising results! These gentle but powerful homeopathic tinctures are a critical part of my protocol for healing. Your emotions play a significant role in your health, for good or evil. Whether you you think you can or think you can’t, you are right!
Edward Bach MD (1886-1936) believed the ills of the heart and spirit must be the focus of the healer’s attention.
Dr. Bach was a highly respected homeopathic medical doctor and had much success in the London hospital where he worked before getting critically ill, which he attributed over work and over care as being a root cause.
He believed the bodily ills are symptoms “…our fears, our cares, our anxieties and such like that open the path to the invasion of illness.”
I appreciate the fact that the good doctor was wary of the “trends” that science is prone to and encouraged others that his discoveries in nature be kept pure, simple and “free from science, free from theories” and extensive scientific scrutiny. He believed that if certain observable principles were operative in nature, there was no need to further complicate the issue. Wild animals did not need explanations of why certain plants helped them when they are ill
.Dr. Bach was a humble man – he would lead sing-songs in the village pub, play football with the local kids, smoke his pipe and enjoy a drink. He would be delighted to see the remedies so readily available and as easy to access as our daily vegetables, bread, and fruit.
But he was also a man with a vision: he wrote about a hospital of the future where doctors would treat their patients as individuals, where patients would understand the nature of their discomfort, and where the healing medicine of nature would nurture their feelings and their soul.
The remedies are not complicated, and in fact I have a lovely book that includes how to make your own preparations and includes other flowers that are not included in Dr Bach’s original 38 Remedies.
The materials required to make a Flower Essence: pure water, sunlight, fresh blossoms, and a clean glass bowl. Their action is always gentle and strengthening.
Dr Bach did have, however, hundreds of successful case histories in his research, and these timeless principles are still just as effective today if we stop to take the leap of faith and give them a try!
Dr. Bach wrote HEAL THYSELF and THE TWELVE HEALERS. I have underlined and highlighted several profound statements he makes regarding our Creator, nature and mankind. Though I do not agree with everything he states, I glean a lot from his work and happy to share this little that I have learned so far. They are small but very useful books.
I am not a Bach Flower Instructor or Practitioner. I have taken a basic course and do my own research and self-study, so I can confidently put together an effective formula for my clients and friends. I use these flower remedies daily as well as my sister and the dogs that we rescued that need extra support. My remedies change my slightly as I go through seasons and reflect on my mood and how I am feeling, but several are pretty constant due to my personality.
I encourage everyone to check in with themselves each month as a regular practice whether they take these remedies or not, to see if you are feeling mor confident and positive or if you are out of balance or not feeling well. The descriptions of some of the flowers themselves are insightful, as well as paying attention to which attributes you would like to have more of and which ones really draw you in.
You can buy RESCUE REMEDY and RESUCUE REMEDY for PETS as well as other Bach Flower Remedies in many drugstores and online. The original tincture as well as gummies and sprays. It is worth it to keep handy for emergencies!
